E.S.M.

Exclusive Sports Marketing, held a 5k & a sprint triathlon. I did the 5k walk, now defunct, due to the knee injury I incurred while at play. I won the event then prepared to do my 2nd triathlon relay, 1st with this company. It is often known as the Publix triathlon series, because of the title sponsor. The course was not usual. It was half sand & half boardwalk for the run portion. There was a 'friendly' competition between Hector's team (Orca) and his amiga, Leonor with team trinity. Unfortunately, with my poor record keeping & memory, I can't remember the names of the swimmers, nor their runner but do remember the outcome vividly. I remember that both their swimmer & cyclist (Leonor) were faster, allowing their runner about a 3 minute head start. Oh, I did forget to say that she selected an NCAA swim champion and a former Olympic Cuban runner as teammates? Intimidating yes, but she forgot-my name is Jasper! She was laughing as she prematurely declared victory in front of Hector & I. She was so happy she finally was gonna beat him; apparently, they have competed frequently & she has never won. Once my turn came, I put on my game face and took off. However, unbeknownst to anyone, I had a plan. My strategy was to go up (north in the sand) at a moderate pace, then return (south on the boardwalk) at full speed. To the dismay of the runner, I got past him just prior to the turn around. As I approached the finish line, her jaw dropped. Hector said he wished I could have seen the expression on her face. No one could believe that the large deficit could be overcome and worse, it was not just by mere seconds. She had lost yet another one, while I got my first experience of placing on top with a triathlon relay team.
