Inaugural relay
The date-August 24, 2003. It was not only an anniversary for hurricane Andrew but better, this was my first entry into triathlon. Since I am aquatically challenged, I took the advice of a fellow employee and triathlete and entered into a relay. Naturally, I did what I do best-run! The event was the Key Biscayne triathlon trilogy. I was referred to Hector, the cyclist. He had picked a swimmer named Judy. They had been getting by with just two members, none of them were strong in the run, at that time. They were elated to have me jump aboard on the last of the 3 events. He made it sound as if they were in danger of either losing or being in 3rd for the series. We got second that day, but gained enough points to win the series! They were so happy, they gave me the 1st place series medal in addition to the 2nd place one that we earned as a team. I was honored because I didn't even do the 1st two with them. The time was 53:03. Format: ¼ mile, 10 mile, 5k
